Liberated Earth. A Dialogue on Women’s Relationship to the Earth and Food

Torino-Lingotto Fiere

Slow Food promotes the preservation of traditions, a harmonious relationship with nature, and the rediscovery of traditional cuisine and conviviality.

However, these themes, if treated too simply, could lead to a misogynist vision, proposing that women should place nourishing and nurturing above all else, that these should be women’s fundamental arena and vocation. We ask ourselves if it’s possible to promote a different relationship between women, earth, and food—a free, new, and innovative relationship—and how this can be achieved without falling into the opposite extreme: the emancipation of women according to traditional male models that push women to live in line with the values and needs of capitalism. This topic will be presented by the American chef and activist Alice Waters, the French journalist and founder of Parabere forum Maria Canabal, the Italian actress Lella Costa. Moderator: Roberta Mazzanti.
