Take a Tour of the Lingotto Fiere and Oval

The heart of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto will host the #foodforchange thematic areas, the Italian and international Market, as well as an area dedicated to street food and craft beers.

Can we change the world one dish at a time, one food at a time? We believe we can, which is why we have chosen Food for Change as the overarching theme of this 12th edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto.

Food for change are the foods made in every part of the planet by Slow Food Presidia producers, by Terra Madre food communities, and by the event’s carefully selected exhibitors; all who have  become ambassadors for a good, clean and fair way of eating. But they are also the foods that we eat every day, an integral part of our way of life: a few more beans and bit less meat, locally grown seasonal vegetables instead of exotic out-of-season produce flown from the other side of the world; one organic product chosen over one produced with intensive agriculture.

During the event, the Lingotto Fiere and Oval spaces will host 900 exhibitors, including many producers from Slow Food Presidia and food communities. Over 100 countries will be represented.

The five #foodforchange thematic areas—Slow Meat, Slow Fish, Seeds, Food and Health, Bees and Insects—are this year’s major innovation, creating a thematic program designed along with the Terra Madre communities to speak to everyone.

But that’s not all that’s new this year: The Terra Madre Kitchen, for example, will be trying out a new format that sees the best of world gastronomy brought together in one venue. Another important debut will be the Terra Madre Arena, a space for migrants, indigenous peoples, and youth from the Slow Food and Terra Madre networks, serving in effect as the event’s sixth thematic area.

Among the other unmissable destinations around the event this year are the spaces dedicated to gelato and chocolate, the Presidia café and the brand-new Pizza and Bread Forge, designed in collaboration with Agugiaro & Figna. Here there will be activities on pizza, bread and pastries, while the bakery will be supplying bread to the exhibitors. Visitors can also sample gourmet sandwiches with Ark of Taste and Slow Food Presidia fillings.

Two of the most eagerly awaited international spaces are those from Slow Food Japan and Slow Food Great China, the latter a sign of the increasingly widespread presence of the movement in the country that hosted the association’s last international congress.

More refreshments can be found in the outdoor spaces in front of the Oval, where visitors can enjoy the largest and most exciting street food and craft beer area Slow Food has ever created at its events. In response to feedback from previous editions, we have also expanded the evening program for Terra Madre Salone del Gusto.

The Market pavilions will stay open until 9.30pm, while street food and beers will be served until midnight, with a special evening ticket on offer.
