The Mediterranean, a Unifying Sea

Torino-Lingotto Fiere

There are many keys to interpreting “Mare Nostrum.”

One is food and the relationship between different yet similar gastronomic cultures. This is what we’ll be discussing at this event which inaugurates the fourth International Festival of Mediterranean Cooking, an initiative that has developed out of the collaboration between Slow Food and the association Mediterranean: Il Nostro Stile di Vita. A basin of biodiversity, cultures and recipes, a place of hope and despair and an unparalleled open-air museum: The festival celebrates this sea in all its complex richness and suggests a new model for Mediterranean development, in the hope that cooperation and empathy for the area’s biocultural diversities can become the driving force for sustainable economies and new forms of acceptance.
